SUCCESSFUL DANCE AT LIMEHILLS

CHURCH MEMBERS HOLD FUNCTION

On a recent evening the members of the Limehills Anglican Church held a successful dance in the Limehills hall. Mr P. Kettle was master of ceremonies. The winners of the Monte Carlo waltz were Miss E. Tippett and Mr I. Lindsay, and the winners of the lucky spot waltzes were Mrs P. Kettle and Mr T. McKenzie, and Miss A. Tippett and Mr D. Hogg. WEDDINGS SIMPSON—MACGREGOR

The wedding was solemnized recently at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Invercargill, of Dorothy, daughter of Mr and Mrs D. Macgregor, Yarrow street, and James, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Simpson, Malcoln avenue, Beckenham, Christchurch. The Rev. C. J. Tocker performed the ceremony and Mrs A. E. H. Bath played the organ. The church was decorated by sisters of the bride. The bride, who was given away by Mr F. J. Perham, of Invercargill, wore a slim-fitting model frock of cream diamante suede. The skirt was fitted to the knees and finished with a slight train. The bodice was pleated from the shoulders, and the tight-fitting sleeves were finished with a peak over the hand. The high neckline was relieved by four rows of pearls. Her embroidered veil hung gracefully from a coronet of orange blossom. She carried a bouquet of roses and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid was Miss Eileen Macgregor, sister of the bride, and Miss Gwen Chalmers. They wore twin frocks of lavender and apricot sheer respectively, made on Grecian lines. The skirts wgre scattered with tiny gold and lavender bows. The waists were finished by two gold bands which tied in the front. Each wore gold cross and chain. Halos of real flowers were worn on their heads and they carried bouquets of real flowers. The best man was Mr Max Bocock, and the groomsman was Mr Eric Coombs, of Dunedin. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where the guests were received by Mrs Macgregor and Mrs A. Melvin. The former wore a black pin-striped costume and a stole. Her accessories were to tone and her shoulder spray was of lavender and white flowers. The latter wore a brown pin-striped costume ' with brown accessories. Her shoulder spray was of lavender and white. For travelling the bride wore a teelblue tailored coat over a clover frock, with accessories to match. Mr and Mrs James Simpson will reside at Westport. WINTER-DUNLOP The wedding was solemnized recently at the Waimahaka Presbyterian Church

by the Rev. W. A. Carmichael, of Jean, only daughter of Mr and Mrs D. H. Dunlop, Pine Bush, and James, elder son of Mr and Mrs R. Winter, Wyndham. The church had been decorated with asters, dahlias and roses,by girl friends of the bride, while a white wedding bell was suspended above the bridal ; couple. The bride, who was given away by ! her father, wore a high waisted frock ’ of chiffon over magnolia satin, made on slim-fitting lines with a heart- ’ shaped neckline. Her heavily em- ’ broidered veil, lent by a friend, was i held by a coronet of orange blossoms, and fell to form a second train. She carried a sheaf of lilium auratum and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Bessie Howe, a cousin of the bride, and Miss '■ Helen Andrews. They wore frocks of apple-green taffetas, with square necklines finished with pleating and full skirts with three pleated frills. Their silver headdresses were decorated with : gladioli blooms, while their bouquets were of pink roses, gladioli and maidenhair fern. A small cousin, Jean Somerville, was flower girl. She wore a frock of salmon pink chiffon over satin and a posy of sweet peas and polyantha roses. She wore a headband of pink flowers. Mr O. Fallow, Thornbury, was best man and Mr J. Dunlop, groomsman. As she left the church the bride was presented with a silver horseshoe by another small cousin. Sylvia Hunter, who wore a frilled pink georgette frock. • At the reception, held in the Waimahaka hall, the guests were received by Mrs Dunlop and Mrs Winter. The bride’s mother wore a model frock of rust shade with self-coloured embroidery, a stole and a rust hat. Her posy was of Michaelmas daisies, gladioli, and autumn-tinted foliage. Mrs Winter wore a navy tailored suit, a navy hat and carried a posy of. pink abutilons, polyantha roses and maidenhair fern. After the reception numbers of the guests were entertained at afternoon tea at the home of Mr and Mrs Dunlop. For travelling, the bride wore a brown tweed suit with hat and accessories to match. Before her marriage the bride, who was most popular in the district, was presented with a Bible and commentary by the pupils of the Pine Bush Sunday school and members of the Young Worshippers’ League. She was

also given a gift evening in the Pine Bush school by the local residents and was asked to accept many useful gifts for her home. Opportunity was also taken by both the Pine Bush Tennis Club and the Waimahaka Basketball Club, of which she had been a valued and enthusiastic member, to present her with gifts from these clubs with their very best wishes.' Mr Winter replied. The future home of Mr and Mrs J. Winter will be at Coalpit road, Wyndham.
