NO TRACE OF NAVAL RESERVISTS
FAILURE OF WIDESPREAD SEARCH (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 19. In spite of widespread continuation of the search throughout today for the three members of the Royal Naval Reserve whose small yacht was found off Tiritiri on Wednesday night, no trace of the missing men had been found at a late hour tonight. It is now feared that they have been lost. Captain Aspden, master of the auxiliary ketch Endeavour which picked up the overturned boat, returned with it to Auckland from Portland. He said that although the wind was light at the time the mishap must have occurred, there was a choppy sea running and this would have made it difficult to retain a hold on the upturned yacht. BODY OF FISHERMAN RECOVERED (United Press Association) DUNEDIN, April 19. An extensive search by the police of beaches near the spot where the two fishermen, Thomas Edward Tunnage and Robert Dow Tunnage, were drowned when their launch capsized on the bar at the mouth of the Taieri river on Wednesday resulted in the body of one of the men being found today on Taieri Island at the mouth of the river. The body was that of Robert Dow Tunnage. The launch was washed on to the beach and the fishermen of the district, in spite of trying conditions, succeeded in removing the diesel engine valued at £4OO from the wrecked craft.
BOY FALLS OFF TRICYCLE Michael Cockerill, aged three and a-half years, living at Ardwick street, Gore, fell from his tricycle in Invercargill yesterday morning and was admitted to the Southland Hospital suffering from a broken right thigh. His condition is reported to be quite satisfactory. '
