Squally and Changeable (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, February 11. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Fresh to strong south-westerly winds; weather cold, squally and changeable, with occasional rain. Seas rather rough to rough. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Showers in Westland and Southland and showers extending to the eastern districts of the South Island, with the south-westerly change; otherwise mainly fair to cloudy. Cool temperatures, with some further snow probable on the ranges of the

South Island. General situation: An anti-cyclone with its axis lying east and west is centred to the north of New Zealand, and a deep westerly depression is approaching across the south Tasman Sea. Winds: From between north-west and south-west, but a more definite south-westerly change soon setting in from the south; force moderate to strong generally and reaching gale force in parts of the western and far southern districts of the South Island. Seas (N.Z. waters): Moderate on the east coast and north of the Otago Pennisula; elsewhere rough. Eastern Tasman Sea: Winds from a westerly quarter; strong to gale force in the southern portion with very rough seas; fresh to strong but decreasing in the northern portion with rather rough seas.
