Dramatic circles in Wellington have discovered a great asset in the person of Haria Dronke, an actress of European fame, who has come to live in New Zealand. She has a husband who is a distinguished scholar and musician, and two small children, Peter, aged five, and Maria, aged four. A graduate of Berlin University, Maria Dronke has studied poetry and drama under the best teachers, and gives lee-

tures and recitals in English, French and German. On the most famous European stages she has played leading roles from Shakespeare and Goethe to Strindberg and Shaw. Her dramatic experience includes _ working with such famous world artists and producers as Max Reinhardt and Moissi. Her first public appearance in Wellington will be in the leading role of “The Kingdom of God,” which she is producing for the Wellington Catholic Players in connection with the Eucharistic Congress and the national Centennial celebrations. It is, Madame Dronke says, one of the best and most congenial parts in her career.
