No official reply had been received from the provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union. The letter written in accordance with the resolution of the board at the last meeting was considered. The chairman said that before any discussion was taken on the matter he wished to state that it was not the wish of the executive to give offence to any section or bodies with which it dealt and at the same time' expressed regret that any offence had been taken by individual members of the board because he was sure that the executive had not intended to endorse any statements with such effect. This report appeared on the same page of the newspaper as did the previous report which contained the matter to which the board took exception. PASSENGER TRAINS Public notice has been given that in conformity with the board’s decision, on and after January 8, the morning and evening services on the board’s line connecting at Wairio with the trains on the New Zealand railways will cease to run except that on Mondays the morning train will run to connect with the outward train from Wairio on the Government line and on Fridays the evening train will run to connect with the inward train at Wairio on the Government line.
