CRICKET MATCH DRAWN

HEAVY RAIN INTERRUPTS PLAY

A cricket competition match between Lumsden and Riversdale. played at Lumsden, resulted in a draw. Lumsden batted first and' declared- with four wickets down for 170 runs.. Riversdale batted determinedly' and at the call of time had seven wickets down for 74 runs. A heavy shower of rain interrupted play in the late afternoon. MOTHERS’ UNION The final meeting of the year of the All Saints’ Mothers’ Union was held recently at the Vicarage where Mrs L. Bell, president, welcomed visitors from the Athol branch. A social hour was spent with competitions and play reading presented by Mesdames’ L. Bell, A. Upchurch and E. Latham. The president asked Mrs H. Graham to cut the birthday cake made by Mrs A. McDonald. R.S.A. FUNDS The funds of the Lumsden Returned Soldiers’ Association will benefit considerably from the activities of the women’s committee who, under Mrs J. Campbell, as president, and Mrs W. Bigger, secretary, have run a series of card evenings. The final evening drew a record attendance of players, the winners being: Women, Mrs S. Baker; men, Mr R. Stuck; consolation prizes, Miss Paterson and Mr W. Cook.

The bring and -buy sale organized by the committee, was well supported, considering counter attractions. The stall holders were: Produce, Mrs S. Graham, Mrs A. Small, Mrs Ogilvie and Mrs McKinna; cake stall, Mrs A. McDonald, and Mrs N. Crosbie; sweets, Miss Martin, Mrs Bell and Mrs Campbell; tea rooms, Mrs 'Pont and Mrs Heath.
