JOHN CHAMBERS AND SON, LTD.

INTERESTING VARIETY OF MACHINERY FOR FARM AND GENERAL USE

As is usual for this well known and old-established firm, ’a particularly interesting and varied display of utility machinery is on show with, of course, particular attention being paid to farmers’ requirements. “KELVINATOR” Refrigerators con- ■ stitute a very interesting part of pie show stand and a very comprehensive range of sizes and Models are on view. The name “Kelvinator” has been connected with domestic refrigeration ever since its inception many years ago and naturally the machines bearing this well-known name are very attractive in every way. Pumping Appliances ' are also featured, including a new arrival in the “BRENNAN” Pump. This Pump is mounted on a Stand and connected to an Electric Motor in such a way that its efficiency and silence are very advantageously demonstrated. The “BRENNAN” Pump incorporates a new principle which has never been applied to pumping units of its size. Particularly noticeable is the absence of complicated valves and numerous working parts which tend to give trouble after a short period of time in other types of water-lifting appliances. The “BRENNAN” Pump requires no attention whatever, except for a little lubrication at long intervals. An exhibit of special interest to the Building Trade is a “RANSOMES AND RAPIER” Portable Concrete Mixer. This is a medium-sized machine

mounted on Rubber Tyres and suitable for towing behind a small truck. It has, of course, its own Petrol Engine and represents a very workmanlike job by a reputable English Firm. “CASE” Tractors are represented in both the popular “C” Model and _the smaller Model “R." Both of these machines, of course, enjoy a very enviable reputation and will naturally attract considerable attention. A “CASE” Thresher of suitable size for the medium-sized farm is also on display and has been fitted with special equipment to meet Southland farming conditions. This machine is being operated on Messrs John Chambers and Son Ltd.’s stand by the Model “C” “CASE” Tractor which is a power plant well suited for this purpose. “CASE” Hay Machinery is also on display and “CASE” quality will be very evident to all those who give these machines reasonably close scrutiny. Members of Messrs John Chambers and Son Ltd.’s Engineering and Sales Staff will be in attendance at all times and a price on any of their equipment will be readily given.

V.T.R. MOTORS V. T. R. RUSSELL HUMBER TEN, DE SOTO, HUMBER SNIPE Visitors to the show should not fail to see V.T.R. Motors stand, where the acme of British engineering and design incorporated in automobiles can be viewed.

The well-known Humber factory in England have recently introduced a new light car in the Humber 10 h.p. This vehicle is probably the finest value in the 10 h.p. field offered today and represents the best of British craftsmanship at a price of only £309. For lightness and ease of control it cannot be bettered while the riding qualities are truly astounding for a car of its size.

The equipment is de luxe in every

meaning of the word and includes I rear opening luggage compartment, genuine leather upholstery, all steel sunshine roof, twin wipers, twin visors, eight-day clock, arm rests, assist cords, ■ and so on. Owners report 40 miles to the gallon ' and over, an economy which is remarkable when one considers that the . body is such that it will seat 4 adults and one child comfortably, with enough ■ room left for three or four fair sized suitcases.

For roominess, drivability, and economy the new Humber Ten answers the question.

Those who require a large, powerful car at a reasonable price should inspect the Humber Snipe. Some prospective purchasers of new automobiles are sceptical concerning the purchase of large, moderately priced British vehicles. They consider that the British car has not the top speed acceleration and flexibility of its American counterpart. To View and drive the Humber Snipe is to expel all these fears. The snipe has performance and acceleration equal to, if not exceeding that, of any American of its price class, facts which can be varified and appreciated by a trial run.

The ‘Evenkeel” independent suspension gives an extremely soft, comfortable ride without sway, while fast cornering can be undertaken without fear of lurching, in other words the car will keep an “evenkeel.” The Humber Snipe is a powerful quality car with amazing performance and comfortable coachwork which will suit the demands of many motorists who have previously been unable to find a car to suit their requirements. At V.T.R. Motors stand can be viewed quality British cars built in one of the largest factories in the United Kingdom and assembled in New Zealand by New Zealand labour in a factory capitalized wholly by New Zealand capital.

Messrs Hart Motors Ltd., have an attractive display, featuring the popular Hillman Minx, an outstanding car in the 10 horsepower class, together with its bigger brother, the Hillman Fourteen. The latter combines the advantages of a full six-seater car, of even greater dimensions than the popular American models, with the wellknown economy of operation and maintenance of the English-built car. Owners report an average of 28 miles a gallon, with splendid performance and hill-climbing capacity. The sturdy, powerful Fargo truck, built by Chrysler for the export market, is also seen in this exhibit. These trucks are available in all sizes from 16cwt up to 4 and 5 tonners, and have found great favour with discriminating truck operators, as a result of their proved reliability, economy, and lasting qualities, all essential for successful and profitable transport work. NATIONAL MORTGAGE AND AGENCY CO., LTD. RANSOME’S ENGLISH PLOUGHS AND DISCS “PRESTO ROLLMO” MOTOR MOWERS Tractor owners were keenly interested in this display at the show yesterday. A three-furrow plough with high-cut skeiths came in for favourable comment and this plough is considered to be one of the best of a line of famous Ransome products. A Ransome two-gang tractor disc harrow was also on view. .This machine is in operation in practically every country in the world and is still one of the most popular with New Zealand farmers.
