FIELD TRAINING AT WAIOURU
WELLINGTON BATTALION LEAVES TRENTHAM (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, December 4. The 19th Wellington Battalion of the special military force spent Saturday preparing packs for a journey to Waiouru for 14 days’ advanced field training. Reveille was sounded at 4 a.m. yesterday and 29 officers and 660 other ranks, after an early breakfast, marched out and were all entrained by 7.15 a.m. They arrived at their destination in the afternoon. ROUSING RECEPTION AT TAIHAPE (United Press Association) TAIHAPE, December 4. A rousing reception was accorded the troops passing through Taihape yesterday to Waiouru in a special train from Trentham. The men looked in the best of health and spirits. On their arrival at Taihape they found the railway station crowded with a vast throng. Everything in camp was in readiness for their arrival. There was naturally a certain amount of clearing up to be done after the arrival of the troops and this was still going on yesterday, but the troops had started advanced training this morning with field and tactical training. All training will be done in battle order, with full equipment.
