MATCH FOR “FERNS” TROPHY CHALLENGERS BEATEN A match for the “ferns” was played on the Otautau green between Messrs J. Thomson and H. Chandler (holders) and J. Hall and H. Gazzard (challengers). The holders retained the trophies by five points, the scores being 20-15. WOMEN’S MATCH A rink from the Otautau Women’s Club travelled to Tuatapere to play a match for the Charlton challenge bowl, which was presented by Mr G. E. Charlton for competition among the women’s clubs of the district. The weather was ideal and the green was in good order. After a keenly-contested game the challengers were successful in securing the trophy by seven points. At the conclusion of the game Mrs King, president, extended her congratulations to the winners, and handed the bowl to Mrs Renowden, president of the Otautau Club, who replied. Robins, Young — 21 PERSONAL At the monthly meeting of the Wallace County Council the chairman (Cr W. J. A. McGregor) moved that leave of absence be granted to Cr W. B. Hopcroft, who. was in hospital. Mr McGregor also referred to the death of Miss H. L. Hunt, with whom councillors had been associated on the Wallace Hospital Board for many years. She had given good service in that capacity. Mr T. Dyke, who had been surfaceman in the Waimatuku riding for many years, and who had given worthy service, had also died. He moved resolutions of sympathy with the relations, which were carried in the usual manner.
