NO-PARK AREA IN DEE STREET
COUNCIL ADHERES TQ ITS DECISION The danger caused by motor-vehicles being parked in Bee street between Victoria Avenue end Eamslaw street was emphasized by the city traffic inspector (Mr E. Stppford) in his report to the meeting of the City Council last night, In this area the roadway Was reduced from two chains to one chain and when it was considered that the read was becoming one of the busiest traffic roads in New Zealand — other than those ip metropolitan areas —if should be realised that the parking of motor-vehicles should be strictly limited, stated the report. It was his intention to recommend to the council next year that the whole of Dee street from Victoria avenue to the Waihopai bridge be declared g no-park areg, The report added that the council's previous, declaring that part of Dee street from Victoria avenue to Egrnsjaw street a no-park area should be allowed to continue unaltered. The Works Committee’s report stated that motor-garage proprietors had protested that it was quite unnecessary |p fqrbid parking between Victoria avenue aqd Earnslaw' street. . It was decided that the letters of protest be received and the writers informed that the council could not see its way to depart from its decision tp declare this part pf Dee street a"nbs> park area.
