OBITUARY
MR C. M. CRUICKSHANK The death occurred suddenly at Mataura on Friday of Charles Murray Cruickshank, at the age of 73 years.. Mr Cruickshank was born at Waikiwi in 1866 and was' the fourth son of the late Mr and Mrs Adam Cruickshank. After receiving his education at the Waikiwi and Chatton schools, he served his time as a carpenter in Invercargill. In 1891 he was married to Miss Helen Hickey, of Dunedin. They resided in Invercargill for a few years, Mr Cruickshank eventually taking up farming in the Greenvale district. Later he shifted to Kelso where he again took up carpentering. Following his trade Mr Cruickshank shifted to Gore, Timaru, Palmerston North, Wharigarei and Auckland, where his wife died about nine years ago. Mr Cruickshank had an inventive turn of mind and much of his spare time was spent in perfecting small inventions of his own with varying degrees of success. Besides being a thoroughly proficient carpenter, he was a cabinet maker and his own architect. He is t ,survived by three sons, Messrs Oliver Cruickshank (Rangiora), Allan Cruickshank (Wellington), Eric Cruickshank (Palmerston North) and two daughters, Mrs Smith and Miss Mona Cruickshank (Auckland). Three brothers and one sister are also living, William Cruickshank (Geraldine), Richard Cruickshank (Bluff), Alex Cruickshank (Mataura) and Mrs I. L! Petrie (Invercargill).
