DAIRY FACTORIES IN WINTON DISTRICT

INCREASE IN INTAKES FOR FIRST MONTH Compared with last season, the September intakes of the five dairy factories in the Winton district group— Awarua, Lochiel, Boggy Burn, Hokonui, and Northope—increased by 24.788 per cent., 53,660 gallons of milk being received from 166 suppliers, as against 43,001 gallons from 138 in 1938. This increase is partly accounted for by the earlier start of manufacturing operations, but, judging from the gain in daily intakes over last season, it is probable that for the first three months of the season outputs will show an appreciable increase over those during the corresponding period of 1938-39.
