PRESENTATION TO FIRST AID LECTURER At the conclusion of the first-aid classes organized by the Tuatapere branch of the Women’s Division, the lecturer, Dr E. M. Elder, was met by members who wished to show their appreciation of his services as instructor. Mrs F. Harrison, convener of the classes, in making a presentation of a wallet of notes, thanked Dr Elder and said that he had made the lectures very interesting. Others who spoke were Mrs H. Whitehead, Messrs A. D. McClymont and McKenzie (Dean Forest). In reply, Dr Elder thanked the mem- i bers for their gift and offered to hold a further series of classes. About 30 attended the classes during the season. TENNIS CLUB At the annual meeting of the Tuatapere Tennis Club, Mr G. E. Higgins presided over a good attendance. The annual report stated that the club had had a successful season. The B team had won the Western District competition in its grade and the A team was the runner-up in its section. The balance-sheet was quite satisfactory. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mr G. E. Higgins; vice-president, Mr R. G. Smith; secretary, Mr G. Cleveland. Subscriptions are to remain as for last year. It was decided to have the official opening on Saturday, October 7.
