SOUTHLAND HIGH SCHOOL

MEETING OF OLD BOYS AT DUNEDIN The annual meeting of the Dunedin branch of the Southland High School Old Boys’ Association was held on Wednesday night, the chairman (Mr E. C. Isaacs) presiding over a fair attendance of members. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report, and balancesheet, reviewed the activities of the year, and expressed pleasure at the continued interest taken in the affairs of the branch by old boys of the school now living in Dunedin. Several functions had been held during the year, and he made special reference to the Tourist Department for its action in arranging to screen travel films at one of these functions. During the year the school Rugby team had also visited Dunedin and had been entertained at an outing at Portobello. The adoption of the report and balance-sheet was seconded by Mr H. C. Hartley and carried. The election of office-bearers resulted: Chairman, Mr H. C. Hartley; vice-presidents, Messrs N. C. Clapp and W. S. Imlay; committee. Messrs C. Clark, E. Ottrey, E. C. Isaacs, W. A. Springford, N. D. Tilley, A. D. Fyffe and T. R. Pedlar; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr J. M. Connolly; auditor, Mr D. G. Mitchell; magazine correspondent, Mr E. C. Isaacs At the conclusion of the annual meeting a social gathering was held, Mr H. C. Hartley being in the chair. The following toast list was honoured:—“The School,” (proposed by Mr H. C. Hartley, reply by Mr Haseldean); “School Athletics,” (Mr E. C. Isaacs; Mr W. A. Springford); “Kindred Associations,” (Mr N. C. Clapp; Mr J. D. Fletcher, Otago Boys’ High School); “The Visitors,” (Mr H. C. Hartley; Mr S. Brown and Mr A. Clark); “The Parent Association,” (Mr C. Clark; Mr L. R. Stewart); and “The Chairman.” Items were given by Messrs A. Clark, N. C. Clapp, E. Ottrey, J. S. Hyndmari and J. M. Connolly. The accompanist was Mr A. Clark
