COMMUNITY SING IN VICTORIA HALL

BRIGHT PROGRAMME AND BIG AUDIENCE

A bright and varied programme was contributed at last night’s community ising in the Victoria Hall when a big audience-threw itself enthusiastically I into the spirit of the occasion and sang I lustily the popular numbers that were included in the evening’s entertainment. The sing was one of the series being held regularly to raise funds to enable the Invercargill Civic Band and the Caledonian Pipe Band to. go to the Centennial Exhibition. The singing was lead by Messrs S. Kingston and S. Wiseman, who were largely responsible for the success of the evening. Mr W. Matthews was stage manager. The individual items were as follows:—Dancing by Miss Miller-’s pupils; banjo mandolin, Master H. Alsweiler; Hillbilly solo, Mr F. Donovan; saxophone solo, Mr N. Wilkes; artistic entertainment, Mr W. Rowe; comedy numbers, Mr S. Wiseman.
