PHYSICAL WELFARE AIMS IN N.Z.
“AROUSING ENTHUSIASM FOR GOOD HEALTH”
(United Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 20. Addressing 30 young women from the North and South Islands, interested in modern recreative physical instruction, the Minister of Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry) said he had often considered it not so difficult to imbue womenfolk with a desire for physical and mental fitness as it was the men.
“lire physical fitness movement will not provide any tabloid recipe for good health,” Mr Parry added. “We are not setting ourselves up as a chemist shop or a manufacturing drug company. If we can arouse enthusiasm for good health we can build a happy and healthy nation and save the community the thousands of pounds being spent on the construction and maintenance of hospitals and mental institutions.”
