PERSONAL
The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Leader of the Opposition, will leave by the express this morning for Palmerston North, where he will attend the annual meeting of the Wellington division of the National Party tomorrow. On Friday Mr Hamilton will be present at a caucus of the National Party in Wellington. The Hon. Mr Justice Blair, who is to preside at the quarterly sessions of the Supreme Court in Invercargill, which begin today, arrived in Invercargill by the midday express yesterday. Mr J. Hargest, M.P. for Awarua, and Mr T. L. Macdonald, M.P. for Mataura, will leave on Thursday morning for Wellington, where they will attend a National Party caucus.
Mr P. D. Edmonds, of Clyde, has been appointed resident secretary of the Waipiata Sanatorium Committee. Mr Edmonds is at present secretary of the Vincent Hospital Board. Mr John Gilkison, chairman of directors of the Southland Frozen Meat Company, and Mr Alex Derbie, general manager, will leave Invercargill by the express this morning for Wellington to attend the conference on Thursday of representatives of freezing companies and the Government.
Mi’ H. K. Slocombe, of the staff of the Invercargill branch of the Bank of New South Wales, has been elected to the executive council of the New Zealand Bank Officers’ Guild. Mr Charles A. Jenkinson will leave Invercargill early next month for a holiday in Great Britain. Mr W. G. James, Federal Controller of Music for the Australian Broadcasting Commission, passed through Auckland yesterday by the Monowai on his way to Vancouver. He is to visit the United States, England and European countries to study the organizations behind the different broadcasting systems. —Times Special Service
