TEMPERANCE UNION

Departing from the routine of its meetings, the South Invercargill branch of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union held a bring-and-buy sale at its last meeting in the Grace street hall. The stalls were laden with a variety of useful articles which found a _ ready sale. An address was given during the afternoon by the Rev. A. Kemohan, 8.D., who compared the general manner of drinking in Great Britain and on the Continent with the manner in the Dominions. He remarked on the number of hoarding advertisements commending the use of spirituous liquors for health reasons, and said that such advertisements were almost banned in Britain. Mr Kemohan was accorded a vote of, thanks for his address.
