TWEED COATS AND FURS WORN
RACES HELD IN AUTUMN SUNSHINE The Southland Racing Club’s season was concluded on Saturday when the winter meeting was held at Invercargill. The weather was cold, although clear, and sunny. Winter coats in the fashionable tweed mixtures, were chosen by the majority of racegoers on Saturday, finished in most cases with either a fur collar or a separate fur. Small felt hats, the usual accompaniment of furs, had veils and feathers in various quantities as trimming. One attractive ensemble worn was of mixed blue tweed. The coat of thumb-nail length and skirt were of the same material while the jumper, gloves and shoes were of the new storm blue. A small felt hat in a deep dahlia shade lent the necessary contrast to this effective outfit.
