QUEENSLAND WINS AUSTRALIAN EIGHT-OAR TITLE

(Received May 14, 6.30 p.m.) BRISBANE, May 14. The Australian eight-oar championship for the King’s Cup, for which Western Australia, the title-holder, did not compete this year, was won by Queensland; New South Wales was second and South Australia was third. Victoria finished second but was disqualified for passing the buoy on the wrong side. Queensland won by one length and three-quarters, with two lengths between New South Wales and South Australia. The time, 14min 30sec, is an Australian record. The Australian sculling championship was won by the title-holder, C. Pearce (New South Wales) by seven lengths. L. Cook (Tasmania) was second and R. Proctor (Queensland) was third. The time, 14min ssec, was an Australian record. _____________
