PEDESTRIAN DIES IN HOSPITAL

STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR (United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, May 13. Injuries received when he was struck by a car on the Main North road on Thursday evening caused the death in hospital this morning of John William Campbell. Campbell, who suffered a compound fracture of the lower right and lower left legs and head injuries, was thought to have been walking on the bitumen in the direction of the city when a car which was travelling in the same direction struck him. He was thrown through the windscreen of the car. FOOTBALLER FRACTURES ANKLE Robert Giller, aged 23, of 10 Janet street, Invercargill, a member of the Star Football Club senior team, was injured in the match played with Bluff on Saturday. He was later admitted to the Southland Hospital suffering from a fractured left ankle. His condition yesterday was satisfactory.
