EASTERN SOUTHLAND MATCHES A AND B GRADE RESULTS The Eastern Southland basketball competition matches were continued on Saturday in fine but cold weather. A good standard of play was maintained in most matches and there were some evenly contested games. Results are as follows:— A GRADE McKenzie’s 24 beat Mataura 17. Ex-High 19 beat Gore 5. Smith’s 22 beat St. Patrick’s 6. B GRADE Ex-High 24 beat Gore 0. Waikaka Valley 7 beat Mataura 5. Pukerau 21 beat High School 3. CENTRAL DISTRICT COMPETITION The results of the basketball matches played in the Central district competition on Saturday were as follows: Senior: Winton drew with Limehills, 6-all; Rovers beat Spar Bush, 17-9. Junior: Rovers beat Browns, 16-7; Winton beat High School by default. Mrs W. Jamieson and Messrs A. G. McKenzie and H. J. Mathias have been appointed selectors for senior and junior representative teams.
