(United Press Association) OTAKI, May 13. The weather was splendid, the course excellent and the attendance large at the Otaki-Maori Racing Club’s meeting. The totalizator handled £15,925/10/- compared with £11,697 for the first day last year. Results: —
TARARUA HACK HURDLES HANDICAP, £l3O. (One mile and a-half).— 4 Primak, 9.0 (Burgess) 1, 5 All Blood, 9.0 (Chaplin) 2, 3 Taumau, 9.13 (Hine) 3. Also started: 1 Conveyor 10.4, 2 Strolling 9.6, 6 Sunder 9.0, 7 Gascon 9.0. Primac led by three lengths, six lengths between second and third. Strolling dislodged his jockey, McDowell, at the first hurdle. Time, 2.54 2-5.
HUIA HANDICAP, £2OO. (Seven furlongs).—l Old Surrey, 7.9 (Wiggins) 1, 3 Export, 8.7 (Williams) 2, 6 Lord Cavendish, 7.6 (Foster) 3. Also started: 2 Lady Montana 9.0, 4 Aureus 7.7, 7 War Lap 7.6, 10 Beau Gallant 7.5, 5 Silver River 7.2, 9 Rotoma 7.0, 8 Ruling Spi 7.0. Export and War Lap led, then Old Surrey, in a good race. Won by a length, half a length between second and third. Time, 1.26 1-5. RAUKAWA HANDICAP, £3OO. (One mile and a-quarter).—4 Meamea, 8.4 (Morris) 1,2 Sergia, 7.8 (Jenkins) 2, 1 Galteemore, 8.2 (Wiggins) 3. Also started: 3 Siegmund 9.0, 5 Rustem 7.5, 6 Good Sim 7.2. From the start Galteemore, Sergia and Meamea led the greater part of the distance in a fine race. Won by a neck, half a length between second and third. Time, 2.8 2-5. First Division KUKU MAIDEN FLAT HANDICAP, £lOO. (Six furlongs).—3 Maturity, 8.10 (Jenkins) 1, 1 Yed Prior, 8.10 (Tattersail) 2, 8 Peach King, 8.10 (Chote) 3. Also started: 10 Charmante, 8.10, 7 Golden Memory 8.10, 6 Haupongi 8.10, 4 Royal Lassie 8.10, 5 Speedfast 8.10, 3 G&thic 8.10, 9 Te Maori 8.0, Peach King and Maturity made the pace. Won by a length, half a length between second and third. Time, 1.15. Second Division 1 Regicide, 8.10 (Taylor) 1, 6 Wings of Song, 8.0 (Morris) 2, 7 Coronado, 8.10 (Doyle) 3. Also started: 4 Etzel, 9 Girl Pat 8.10, Master Solway 8.10, 8 Parinui 8.10, 12 Royal Show 8.10, 10 Te Ore 8.10, 11 Bourmond 8.10, 3 Sir Crusoe 8.0. Wings of Song, Coronado and Parinui were prominent. The former led into the straight. Won by a length, same between second and third. Time, 1.15.
HACK AND HUNTERS’ STEEPLECHASE, £l3O. (Two miles and aquarter).—l Power Chief, 10.11 (McDonald) 1, 4 Southern Blood, 10.4 (Pine) 2, 5 Air How, 9.0 (Mcßrearty) 3. Also started: 2 Redolent 10.0, 3 Master Hector 9.3, 6 Ngaitahu 9.0. Only the placed horses finished. Won by half a length, 100 yards between second and third. Redolent dislodged his rider, Master Hector lost his gear and Ngartohu ran off. Time, 5.30. TE HORO HACK HANDICAP, £125. (One mile and 55 yards).—3 Hinerawe, 8.11 (Doyle) 1,2 Hying Acre, 8.10 (Burgess) 2, 8 Dancing Flame, 8.2 (Lamb) 3. Also started: 1 Red Chief 8.7, 5 Toper 8.7, 10 Screen Star 8.4, 6 Sunbeam 7.11, 4 Golden Orchid 7.11, 7 Etzel 7.11, 9 Whetuma 7.11, 12 Titter 7.11, 11 Great Bramble 7.11. From the start Sunbeam and Screen Star made the pace. Won by two lengths, two lengths between second and third. Time, 1.44. WAITOHU HACK HANDICAP, £125. (Six furlongs).—2 Jeanne, 8.6 (W. Jenkins) 1, 3 Saki; 9.7 (A. Jenkins) 2, 7 Miss Waitarere, 7.7 (Edwards) 3. Also started: 1 Guiding Light 8.5, 4 War Cloud 7.7, 6 Wakarara 7.7, 8 Renascor 7.7, 5 Dorak 7.7. Won by three lengths each way. Jeanne and Dorak made the running. Time, 1.13 2-5.
