Tar-Sealing Held Up

Stating that there was a “definite sealing season,” the secretary (Mr M. C. Fairbrother) last evening explained to a meeting of the general committee of the Automobile Association (Southland) the reason why work was not proceeding on the tar-sealing of roads in Southland. The question had been taken up by the association and Mr Fairbrother’s explanation was the result of inquiries made by him. Road temperatures fell to a point where it was impossible to apply sealing to the surface, said Mr Fairbrother, and Southland was unfortunate that no tarsealing could be done from now until October. The work had also been held up because of the wet weather in January and February.
