ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
IMPROVED STANDARD OF GAME DELEGATES EXPRESS GRATIFICATION (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 14. Gratification at the improved standard of Association football in the Dominion last season was expressed by delegates at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Football Association in Wellington tonight. The work cf the retiring council was commended and all the councillors w_-re re-elected with the exception of Mr W. G. Bryce, who was replaced by Mr J. Dick. Mr J. Milbum, chairman of the outgoing couhcil, referred to Mr Bryce’s interest in the code over a long period. At his suggestion Mr Bryce was elected vice-president. A remit from Wellington that a North v. South Island match be inaugurated met with general support and was passed, subject to the New Zealand Council being able to make satisfactory financial arrangements. Wellington’s second remit, “That the rules of the F.A. trophy' competition be amended to provide that the competition be conducted along the' lines of Plunket Shield competition in cricket—that each of four major centres play the other three centres once during the season, points to be awarded for each game,” was also passed, provided satisfactory financial arrangements could be made.
It was decided that the replacement rule be the same a- last year. Replacements may be made up to and including half-time. 1
THISTLE CLUB’S PRACTICE GAME
The following members of the Thistle • Association Football Club will play a practice game on the Biggar street grounds at 2.15 this afternoon:—W. Ferguson, L. O’Rorke, W. Kitto, W. Taylor, J. McMurdo, R. Smith, J. Morrison, G. Sutherland, W. McLean, N. Morrison, A. Lang, L. Radka, S. Radka, A. Crofts, J. O’Brien and all junior players.
