YOUNG MAN WITH BLUDGEON
INTRUDER IN WOMAN’S BEDROOM (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 14. A young man with a bludgeon who climbed through the window of a bedroom in the Taita Hotel in which a young woman was sleeping came before Mr W. F. Stilwell, S.M. He was John James Kenny, 22 a painter, who admitted two charges of being deemed a rogue and vagabond. The police stated that accused was fortunate he was observed by the porter otherwise he might have been charged with a more serious offence.
For about nine months he was on friendly terms with the waitress at the hotel. About six weeks ago she terminated the friendship because of the quarrelsome nature of accused when under the influence of liquor and told him she did not want to see him again. He was not satisfied with that and continued to annoy the girl by ringing her on the telephone. On one occasion when the porter answered accused said: “I will do for her sooner or later.” Accused was convicted and fined £5, in default one month’s imprisonment, and convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months on the other.
