WOMEN’S RECORD AT OTATARA MISS C. SMITH’S SCORE OF 75

Equalling the women’s scratch score (75) for the Otatara course, Miss Claire Smith broke her own course record by one stroke yesterday afternoon. Her previous record of 76 was obtained at the end of last year and she has since equalled it. In her round yesterday, which was played in perfect conditions, she was four over the scratch score at the turn, but coming back she played brilliantly and covered the nine holes in 34, finishing with three birdies. Miss Smith was playing in the monthly L.G.U. match, in conjunction with which a bogey handicap was played, but her record score was not quite good enough to give her a win.
