ANNUAL MEETING OF COLLEGIATE CLUB 55 PLAYERS REGISTERED LAST YEAR “During the past season the club registered 55 players and entered five teams in the weekly competitions. Although not winning any one section, the first and fourth grades were run-ners-up in their sections,” states the annual report of the Collegiate Basketball Club which was presented at the annual meeting last night.. Mr R. M. Strang was chairman. “During the season the club participated in the various tournaments organized by the Southland Basketball Union and sub-associa-tions, and won the first grade section of the opening day tournament and was also successful in the evening tournament.

“The club’s congratulations are extended to the following players on being chosen to represent the province at the Dominion tournament held in Timaru, and we congratulate them on bringing back the Annie Brown Cup:—Misses E. Shepherd, L. Barrett, L. Tinker and E. Neame (the latter player also captained the South Island team). AUSTRALIAN TOUR “The first New Zealand team left for Australia during last season. Southland was represented by Misses E. Neame (Collegiate) and J. Tyrell (St. Mary’s). This was a new experiment by the New Zealand Association, but the experience gained by those participating in it should help materially in making basketball an international sport. Before Miss Neame’s departure she was the recipient of a suitable presentation at an evening held by the club in her honour. “At the close of the season the Old Students’ Association’s Cup for the most improved player during the season was presented to Miss Violet Bennett, a young player who has shown exceptional keenness in her games this year. “Tn order In Iroon the suhscriDtioDS
