GIFT TO CRICKET BY SIR JULIEN CAHN
AUTHORITIES GIVEN £lOO AS RECOMPENSE (United Press Association) • WELLINGTON, March 14. The financial result of the cricket match at Wellington with the Englishmen has been improved by Sir Julien Cahn’s generosity. He was unable to remain in Wellington for the one day’s play yesterday, but before leaving he intimated that he would make a gift of £lOO to the cricket authorities to recompense them in some measure for the financial loss suffered by the unavoidable curtailment of the playing time.
Cricket officials are keenly appreciative of this further generosity on the part of Sir Julien Cahn, who, as has been pointed out previously, is paying the expenses of his team to and from New Zealand. The actual tour through New Zealand was the Cricket Council’s only concern in the financing of the visit.
