(United Press Assn.—Telegraph Copyright)
(Received February 11, 6.30 p.m.) OTTAWA, February 10. There, was wild disorder in . the House of Commons when the Minister of Defence (Mr lan Mackenzie), defending the Government contract for Bren machine-guns, heard an unidentified member of the Conservative Opposition refer to Colonel J. L. .Ralston, Mr Mackenzie’s adviser, as “another grafter.” The Minister shouted: Whoever said that is a dirty liar! If he will come outside I will knock his head off!”
The Speaker intervened. There was an uproar, again when the Minister referred to a German Canadian Conservative member as a Prussian, and was forced to withdraw the remark. The Opposition alleges that the order for £7OOO worth of Bren guns from a private firm, which also has a War Office order, was political patronage and that the guns should have been manufactured by the Government itself.
