BIG PRIZES FOR THREE TOURNAMENTS £2OOO FOR PROFESSIONALS, TROPHIES FOR AMATEURS (United Press Association) WELLINGTON, February 6. The council of the New Zealand Golf Association at a meeting today decided to offer £2OOO in prize money at three open golf tournaments to be held in the Dominion this year in connection with the centennial celebrations. It was decided that the prize money should go exclusively to the six leading professionals in each of the three open tournaments. Any amateurs who gain places will receive trophies. . The first tournament will be held in Auckland toward the end of October, the second in Christchurch immediately afterward and the third on the Miramar links, Wellington, about the middle of November when the New Zealand open and amateur championships will be decided. This liberal allocation of prizemoney is expected to induce many overseas professionals to visit New Zealand this year.
