STUDY OF HEALTH SERVICES
(Special to The Times) AUCKLAND, February 3.
With a view to studying medical services in New Zealand as well as visiting relations a young doctor from Yugoslavia, Dr M. Cryvenac, arrived at Auckland by the Oronsay. He said that New Zealanders were recognized as being a healthy people whereas in his own country the mortality rate was fairly high. “Although much reduced since the introduction of hygienic studies. in public schools a great effort is being made throughout Yugoslavia to preach hygienics to the people,” said Dr Cryvenac. “The population of about 15,000,000 is so scattered, especially in the country districts, that it is almost impossible for the available doctors !o give their services to all who require them. However the result of regular addresses by eminent doctors through the public schools and the big Rockfeller medical institution in Zagreb the public education in the matter of health has been vastly improved.”
