PIG-IRON DISPUTE AT PORT KEMBLA

DISSATISFACTION CAUSED BY MR MENZIES’S VISIT

SYDNEY, January 12.

The unions involved in the Port Kembla pig iron dispute are very dissatisfied with the visit of the Federal Attorney-General (Mr R. G. Menzies), and threaten to extend the trouble by compelling the withdrawal of all labour from Port Kembla steel works until an amicable settlement is reached.

A conference of union leaders will probably decide this issue by the weekend.

Mr Menzies, who has gone to Newcastle, has offered to debate the dispute with union officials at Wooliongong.
