HITLER IMPRESSED WITH MUNICH
HOPES FROM FRIENDSHIP OF STATESMEN
BERLIN, January 12.
Herr Hitler, acknowledging New Year greetings from the Papal Nuncio, who specially referred to the Munich Agreement, declared:. “I am also strongly impressed with the Munich Agreement. Germany last year brought into being her absolute rights without war, and to- this the’ wise judgment of the powers at Munich contributed. I am of opinion that that event justifies the hope that in the future the common friendship of European statesmen may preserve a peace throughout Europe which gives the fullest justice to the legitimate interests of the nations.”
The newspaper Volkischer Beobachter, the chief Nazi organ, announces that Germany does not intend to assume full rights under, the Anglo-German Naval Treaty by building submarines up to 100 per cent, of British tonnage or by laying down two A class (heavy) cruisers.
