MAST DAMAGED ON PORT HUON
ACCIDENT WITH CRANE DURING LOADING (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 15. As a result of an accident with a wharf crane, the fore topmast of the Port Line motor-ship Port Huon was unshipped today for repairs. When the Port Huon was loading at the wharf, the jib. of the wharf crane struck a running stay on the topmast. The head rigging was strained by the impact and the topmast was thrown out of alignment, slight damage being caused. The Harbour Board’s floating crane was used to unship the topmast for repairs, which are expected to be completed to enable the mast to be stepped on Monday morning.
