A good number of parents and other interested persons accepted the invitation of the Wyndham District High School to see the work being done by the pupils. The work was displayed in each of the classrooms, and the visitors had an interesting time inspecting the many and varied articles made by the different classes. Even the very young children had some of their hand-made articles on display, and they came- in for many admiring comments. Probably most interest was taken in the doll’s house of four rooms, a bathroom, hall and sunporch, all of which was made, decorated, and furnished by the pupils. A massed drill display by the combined upper classes, was also watched with interest. The rector (Mr C. S. Gordon) in welcoming the visitors, said he was pleased to see so many present. It was, he said, a sign of the interest taken by parents and friends in the work of the school. The children were always pleased to entertain visitors, and to show them round the school. One of his ambitions was to see a parents’ association formed in Wyndham. Such an association would be of • inestimable value to the school, as its members could assist in many ways, especially with school concerts. Some years ago there had been an Old Pupils’ Association at Wyndham, but it was now

defunct. This he would also like to see revived, as it could Ln many ways assist the school. It was his intention, when the school reopened after the holidays, to call meetings for this purpose, and he hoped all present would attend. The school was deeply indebted to Mrs Pankhurst for coming each week to teach the children first aid, and it was due to her excellent work that each child had passed the examination by Dr J. H. Baird. He congratulated them all on their success. Mrs Pankhurst then presented the certificates to the following girls: Jean Smith, Marjorie Stewart, Mary Lobb, Dorothy Pedler, Betty Winter, Mary McMillan, Pearl Patterson Olive Johnstone, Isla Crosbie, Tui Harper, Joyce Bennie, Nellie Stirling, Wanaka Johnstone, Ethel Broad, Mary Stirling, Edith Irwin, Susan Henderson, Audrey Pauli. Nancy Hunter and June Stewart.
