PRIZES PRESENTED AT SOCIAL

PRESBYTERIAN SUNDAY SCHOOL PUPILS There was a good attendance at the annual prize-giving social of the Otautau Presbyterian Sunday school. The Rev. H. B. Burnett presided. The following programme was given by the children under the leadership of Miss C. Jellyman, who also acted as acco._ x .anist: Solos, Misses Joyce Thomson, Mary;Brash and Dorothy'Jellyman; recitations, Miss E. Jellyman, Masters Kenneth Paterson and Murray Fisher; duets, Misses F. Lindsay and E. Jellyman, Sheila Campbell and Rowena Morton, J. Thomson and Beth Gould, Dorothy Jellyman and Joan Chandler, Masters D. Maxwell and D. Turvey; quartette, Misses Lesley McCrostie, M. Brash, Sheila Campbell and R. Morton; trio, Misses Mary Brash, Sheila Campbell and R. Morton; part songs, pupils of Standards 3 and 4, and the senior girls; hymns, infant boys and girls; play, “The Last House,” with Joan Chandler (mother), Beth Gould and Margaret Fisher (daughters), G. Before presenting the prizes, the chairman thanked the superintendent and teachers for their work during the year. Following was the prize-list:

REDAN SCHOOL CONCERT At the annual concert of the Redan school there was a good attendance. In his opening remarks, the chairman of the school committee (Mr A. Greenlees) thanked the audience for their attendance. The children gave the following items:—Pirate scene with a recitation by Roger Humphries; recitation by Jean Greenlees “Washing Day”; folk dance by the senior pupils; Brighton camp play, “Their Visitor,” Roger Humphries, Jean Greenlees, Norman Mcßae; recitation by Kitty Greenlees, “The Willow Pattern Plate”; song and dance by the junior pupils, “Ten Tin Soldiers”; duet by Kitty Greenlees and Douglas MacKenzie, “Indian Song”; “Golliwog,” recitation by the junior pupils; folk dance by senior girls; circle dance by senior pupils; solo and recitation by Anne McEwan, with chorus by the school; play, “No Fear,” Roger Humphries, Jack Hopkins, Neil McEwan, Fergus McEwan and Douglas MacKenzie; dance by senior pupils; recitation by Douglas MacKenzie; action song, “The Little Dutchies”; play, “The Bald-headed Man”; dance, Barn dance with variations; song “The Widow”; Maori songs by the school.
