Friesian breeders will have the opportunity at both the Invercargill ana Gore shows of seeing the bull which was first in his class, champion, and South Island champion at the Metropolitan show at Christchurch on November 11, where he was exhibited by his owners, Royds and Williams “Awarima,” Five Rivers.

This bull, Fendalton Sylvia King 3rd was commented on in The Press (Christchurch) as being of outstanding merit and superb length. He certainly combines in one individual the o* type and production aimed at by all constructive breeders, for his pedigree shows that he is rich in the blood ot show championship winners combined with some of the best-known producers in New Zealand Friesian history.

His dam, Fendalton Sylvia Posch, was South Island champion and three, times champion at Christchurch including one Royal show. She has an official production record of 5801bs fat at three years. She was a daughter of Bainfield Daisy Sylvia (6121 b fat), herself a champion at Christchurch, who was a daughter of Bainfield 27 (9111bs fat) and with her dam, Oakwood Daisy Bell (9141bs fat) held the New Zealand “dam. and daughter record for many years. Fendalton Sylvia Posch was sired by Roseyale Inka Holland Prince winner of five championships including two Royal show championships. The sire of Fendalton Sylvia King 3rd is a full brother of Pareora Echo Blossom, whose production of 226711 b milk and 8191 b fat at two years is a Dominion record. His sire was a son of the noted imported bull Echo Sylvia Sir Griselda who had 35 tested daughters with records from 593 to 8561 b fat at ages from two to four years. On both top and bottom lines of his pedigree the bull is descended from Burkeyje Sylvia Posch who milked continually for 11J years and produced in that period 12 calves, lOOtons milk foui tons of butter and, in her sixth year, an Australian and New Zealand record of 26,2261 b milk and 9831 b fat.
