WEDDINGS
GAWN—THYNE The wedding was solemnized at St. Paul’s Presbyterian church on Saturday, November 26, of Ruby, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Thyne, Bamborough road, Invercargill, and Valentine W. Gawn, youngest son of Mrs Gawn and the late Mr W. R. Gawn, Baird street, Invercargill. The Rev. C. J. Tocker performed the ceremony and Mrs A. E. H. Bath was organist.
The bride who was given away by her father, wore a frock of white satii;
made on slim-fitting lines. Her veil was of richly embroidered tulle, and she carried a bouquet of arum lilies and maidenhair fem.
The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Linda Thyne, who wore a frock of pale pink net, trimmed with satin bands, over pink satin. She carried a bouquet of pink roses. Mr Ivan Stewart was best man, and Messrs Robert Gawn and Eric Stewart acted as ushers.
After the ceremony the guests went to Elmwood Garden where the reception was held. They were received by the bride’s mother, who wore a navy blue pin striped costume, with a hat to match. She also wore a lemon shoulder spray. Mrs Gawn, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a brown and gold, ensemble with shoulder spray and hat to match.
For travelling the bride wore a black tailored costume with a white blouse and a hat and accessories to match. Mr and Mrs V. W. Gawn will live in Andrew’s street, Invercargill.
