APPLE FRITTERS 1 cup flour. f cup milk. 1 egg. 1 tablespoon melted butter. 4 apples (cored, peeled, and cut into slices i inch thick). 1 teaspoon salt. 2 tablespoons sugar. 2 teaspoons baking powder.

Beat egg and sugar. Add milk and melted butter and pour into hole in centre of sifted dry ingredients. Stir in ever-widening circles. Dip apple slices into batter and drop by means of a skewer into deep fat, 365 degrees F. and cook till puffy in appearance, golden brown in colour, crisp on the outside, and soft inside. Drain well. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. SARAH.
