RETURNED SOLDIERS At a meeting of the executive of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association the secretary reported that the financial membership of the association was 420, compared with 392 last meeting night and 392 for the corresponding period last year. In the competition between the West Otago and Mataura Sub-Associations, West Otago was leading with 69 financial members, compared with Mataura’s 46. One new member was elected to the association. Those present at the meeting were: Messrs T. F. Rusbridge (chairman), J. S. McDonald, J. Adams, P. R. Stewart, A. L. McDowell, F. M.. Murray, M. Green, A. C. Steel, R. Jones, W. D. Shelton, C. M. Wilson and the secretary (G. L. Gerken). PERSONAL At a meeting of the executive of the Gore Returned Soldiers’ Association a motion of sympathy was carried with Mr John Walders in the recent death of his brother. MUSIC EXAMINATIONS The following pupils of Gore music teachers passed the practical pianoforte examinations conducted by Mr Felix Swinstead, examiner ; for the Royal Schools of Music, London, at Gore on Tuesday:— Grade ll.—Alma Falconer, Derrick G. LAWN TENNIS The Clifden Tennis Club celebrated the opening of the new court. In spite of the unfavourable weather there was a good attendance of players and visitors.
