THE WEATHER CLOUDY AND CHANGEABLE

(Special to The Times) ' WELLINGTON, November 11. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate to fresh winds, between north-west and south-west. Weather cloudy and changeable, with rain at times. Moderate temperatures. Seas rough in strait, moderate on the east coast. Following is the Dominion forecast:—Weather cloudy to overcast in districts with a westerly aspect and in the far south, with rain at times, but more especially in the southern portion, elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures mild to warm mainly, but cooler in the south. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone is centred to the north of New Zealand, while a rather deep depression is. passing in the south. The pressure is still relatively low over the Tasman. Winds.— North-westerly to westerly about and north of Cook Strait and between north-west and south-west over the South Island, force moderate to fresh generally and reaching gale force at times in the Cook Strait area. Seas.—New Zealand waters, rough south of Cape Egmont and about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere slight to moderate, but rising north of Cape Egmont; eastern Tasman Sea, moderate north-westerly winds and slight to moderate seas in the northern portion, fresh to strong winds between north-* west and south-west, with rough seas in the southern portion.

The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine. At one o’clock this morning the weather was fine and warm and the sky was clear. The barometer readings for the last three mornings have been as follows: — This morning 29.56 in. Thursday 29.43 in. Wednesday 29.58 in.
