MONEY STOLEN FROM COUNTY OFFICES

SAFE BLOWN OPEN AT TE KUITI (United Press Association) TE KUITI, November 11. Thieves broke into the Waitomo County Council offices at Te Kuiti, blew open the safe and left with £24 and a money order between 11.30 last night and 5.30 this, morning. Entry was gained by breaking a window. It is evident that the safe-blowing was the work of experts, for apart from the actual lock there was not the slightest sign of damage. A piece of fuse was found nearby, also a pound note, indicating the possibility of the; thieves being disturbed. The cash boxes removed were found, the cheques being intact. Early in the morning an attempt was also made to enter the Farmers Auctioneering premises, but it failed.
