ROYAL SHOW AT HAMILTON
UNPLEASANT WEATHER FOR OPENING SEVERAL CHAMPIONSHIP AWARDS ANNOUNCED (United Press Association) HAMILTON, October 27. The Royal Show opened on the Claudelands show grounds today in unpleasant weather, light showers falling at varying intervals throughout the day. Several championship awards were made during today’s judging. The details are:— HORSES Clydesdales.—Entire champion: Andrew Grant’s Strathore Streamline. Reserve: James Jetrie jun.’s Thorn Print. CATTLE Shorthorns.—Bull champion: J. Holden’s Clipper of Te Puna. Reserve: D. J. Holden’s Te Puna Buttercup Bth. Silver challenge cup presented by the Shorthorn Society of Great Britain for best Shorthorn bull in show. D. J. Holden’s Defiance of Te Puna. Silver challenge cup presented by the Shorthorn Society of New Zealand for best Shornhorn male or female: D. J. Holden’s Te Puna Duchess of Beaufort 3rd. Jerseys.—Cow (New Zealand Jersey Cattle Breeders’ Association silver cup): A. Moreland and Son’s Beechlands Fairy Sunray, very highly commended. Reserve: N. M.
