CONDUCT OF JEWS ON AORANGI
REPORTS DESCRIBED AS EXAGGERATED (United Press Association) - WELLINGTON, October 27. Discussing reports which have appeared in the newspapers about the conduct of Jewish refugees on the Aorangi on her recent voyage from Vancouver to Auckland and Sydney, the Union Steam Ship Company, agent for the Canadian-Australasian Line, states that there has apparently been a good deal of exaggeration. “The commander’s report for the voyage, referring briefly to the subject makes it evident that what trouble did occur was largely the work of one individual, who subsided after being remonstrated with by Captain T. V. Hill,’’.states the company. “The idea of some of the cabin class passengers that they should be allowed the run of the first class was probably due to some misunderstanding at the time of booking, no doubt because of the language difficulty. It is, of course, out of the question that passengers should be allowed the use of accominodation of a higher class than that for which they had paid. A considerable number of these passengers had been carried on previous trips without anything against them having been. reported and so far as the ( company is aware they were quiet and well-behaved. ,
