STATE BUYS LAND IN AUCKLAND
AT LEAST 150 HOUSES TO BE BUILT (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 27. Under the housing scheme the Government has purchased two blocks of land in Mount Albert borough, totalling about 33 acres and containing about 138 sections, on some of which it is proposed to build two unit houses. It is expected that there will be at least 150 houses. Contractors have started on the work of reading and providing services and it is expected that within a few months a start will be made on the houses. A feature .of the scheme for the settlement will be children’s playgrounds and community garages.
