WINTON

BOWLS OPENING OF SEASON The weather was ideal for the opening of the Winton and Returned Soldiers’ Association’s Bowling Club’s season on Labour Day. There was a good attendance of members and visitors were present from other clubs. The president of the club, Mr J. Molloy, in declaring the green open for the season, welcomed the members from visiting clubs and said he trusted an enjoyable afternoon would be spent He was pleased to say that the green was looking in excellent order and it reflected great credit on the greenkeeper and members. He wished the club members every success in the new year. The first “kitty” was rolled by Mrs Molloy, and Mr J. Campbell, one of the oldest members of the club, rolled the first bowl.
