NELSON GIRL PLACED IN “IRON LUNG”

INFANTILE PARALYSIS AFTER MEASLES WELLINGTON,'October 26. For the first time in Wellington and it is believed, for the first time in New Zealand a patient suffering from infantile paralysis is now undergoing treatment in an “iron lung” in the public hospital. The patient is a Nelson girl, aged 10, who was transferred to Wellington after contracting infantile paralysis after measles. She has now been under treatment in the “iron Jung” for two days, but it is not known how long it will have to continue. The apparatus has been in Wellington for some months now, but has not previously been in use.
