PEDESTRIAN KNOCKED DOWN BY CYCLIST

Knocked down by a cyclist as she was walking in a pedestrian crossing, at the Esk street intersection, from the west side of Dee street to the east side, Mrs Agnes Scott, a widow, aged 74, of 146 Venus street, was admitted to tlie Southland Hospital yesterday afternoon suffering from a fracture of the left leg. The cyclist was riding north along Dee street.

TRAM DRIVER’S CONDITION MUCH BETTER The condition of Alfred Henry White, the tramway motorman who was injured in the collision in Yarrow street on Tuesday afternoon between a motor-lorry and the tram he was driving, was reported early this morning to be much better. RETIRED TAILOR KILLED BY TRAIN (United Press Association) ASHBURTON, October 26. Not heeding frequent blasts of the whistle, Charles Fletcher, aged 67, a widower, and a retired tailor, was killed instantly by the Timaru-Ashbur-ton train near the Tancred street crossing last evening. The train was pulled up quickly, but Fletcher was carried eight yards, his body being badly smashed and his skull severely fractured. His wife died in August.
