SEVERE SWELLING OF TONGUE REDUCED (Received October 26, 6.30 p.m.) LONDON, October 25. The application of a preparation from the venom of deadly vipers to his tongue saved the life of a Sheffield man, Walter Woodbine, aged 41, who was choking to death after severe swelling of his tongue resulting from a fall from a ladder. The viper venom was applied by means of a swab. It stopped the bleeding and reduced the swelling. Woodbine is stated to be a descendant of tihe Bounty mutineer, Fletcher Christian.
